I’m Being Evicted

Tenant/Landlord Mediation

If you have concerns regarding the legalities of your eviction or if you need assistance with resolving issues with your landlord, ECHO Housing may be able to assist you. ECHO has trained mediators to assist in resolving housing disputes through conciliation and mediation. They make referrals to legal services for advice and representation on housing-related issues including evictions, rent increases, repairs and habitability, and harassment.  The primary objective of the program is to build awareness of housing laws and prevent homelessness.

Emergency Rental Assistance

Need money for a security deposit? Facing eviction or loss of utilities? Emergency Rental Assistance can provide you with temporary financial resources to stabilize your housing situation. These resources can help prevent homelessness or, if you are homeless, they can help afford temporary, transitional, or permanent housing.

Each organization has a different form of rental assistance and different eligibility requirements. Emergency rental assistance is also dependent on available funding.  Be sure that whichever program you contact has the services you need and the funding to assist you.

Some of the programs require you to be referred through The Coordinated Assessment and Referral System (CARS) which is the referral system from which all federally-funded homeless housing programs must receive their clients from. For more information, click here.
